Patrick grew up as the third of eight children in Philadelphia’s Main Line area. He left the Philadelphia area when he was 18 years old to attend The Catholic University of America in Washington, DC, subsequently earning a professional degree in Architecture and Planning. After graduating, Patrick worked for two boutique design firms in Washington: for 10 years at Arcadia Design and for 3 years at Cole-Prevost. After gaining much valuable professional experience, he opened Patrick Brian Jones, PLLC, in January 2011.

Patrick believes strongly that architecture and design is not about being ‘modern’ or ‘traditional’ – those are simply labels. He finds meaning in the words one of his first mentors: that “architecture is about the things you see and how you see them: first you must see the beauty, then you may use it.”

Patrick approaches all of his projects with this design philosophy in mind. During his initial meetings with clients, he makes it a priority to truly understand their needs and budget, and then works with them to translate those needs into new or redesigned spaces. This forms the foundation of the partnership Patrick establishes with his clients that continues from design through construction to the first dinner party they host in their new space!

Patrick’s designs translate into spaces that are sophisticated yet simple, created to reflect the needs and lifestyles of those who inhabit them. He takes great care in the materials he specifies, suggesting environmentally responsible products when possible but always with an eye toward ensuring that the new space will withstand the test of time. Because of Patrick’s collaborative relationships with his clients, he is able to create spaces that are functional and interesting, often incorporating experimental elements in subtle and restrained ways.
